A poor day! The excellent run of successful lays came to an end today as Monte Major won by a head despite not having the run of the race! The each way selection i backed at 10/1 this morning and turned out to be one of the best backed horses of the day being sent off the 7/2 favourite! Despite the money the selection was under pressure a long way out but the persistence of Dougie Costello where others might not, was the main reason the place money was landed and a profit made! The day ended disappointingly as Smalljohn who was stepping up in class, drifted alarmingly late on and despite racing prominent lacked the turn of foot of a couple of his rivals! The Basher
