Another excellent day with 3 from 3 profitable selections! Carmelita was first to run and was sent to the front again. Swinging off the bend i thought the selection might have stolen the race trading odds on in running only to be swooped late in a close finish, having to settle for third but landing the place money! The lay of Heathcote continued the recent good run and the question marks i had about his jumping were there for all to see today blundering badly several times before being pulled up 3 out! The day finished perfectly with another good ride from Paddy Flood aboard Stewarts House who led throughout the race jumping well in the main and staying on up the run in to score by 13/4 lengths! A small profit on the day! Sangfroid was doing his best work late on but looked to have sat to far off the pace to mount a serious challenge! The selection ran on well to finish second but was 9 lengths behind the eased down winner. 2 from 3 winning selections today! The favourite Give It Time was the first to run and having question marks about his jumping were soon proved to be correct. The selection jumped slow and short at most fences and his finishing position was more than flattering as the 2 horses who looked most likely winners both fell at the 2nd last! Fin Vin De Leu was the Each Way selection on his previous run and today looked a far easier task, the odds against this morning looked more than generous and continuous support throughout the day sent him of the 4/6 favourite! The selection never looked in danger and after taking up the lead before 2 out eased away from the field to score by 15 lengths! Rescent had the chance to make it a perfect 3 and was far from disgraced as his early price of 25/1 might have suggested. Kerb Appeal was first to run over in Ireland and looked to have the most potential of the Mullins pair despite the betting not agreeing with Kerb Appeal trading as big as 16/1 on the exchanges! The selection ran well in the main, landing the place money and beating his stable companion but was always playing for places as the winner was very impressive in a competitive field! The Bet of the Day was over in Dubai today and Mr Brock looked way over priced at 13/8 in a field of mainly exposed rivals! The money came late but sent the selection off a very well backed 10/11 favourite and he never looked in trouble! Sitting just off the pace he took the lead two furlongs from home and pulled away in the closing stages to win by 3 lengths very easily! A good day with the betting speaking in favour of todays selection! The lay selection was friendless in the market and drifted right up until the off. Despite the drift Special Envoy ran well in defeat showing more of a battling quality than on previous runs but look well held by the winner! Today was a reminder why this sport can be so frustrating at times! The Each Way selection was first to run and looked a huge price at 11/1 this morning! After setting the pace More Shennanigans was jumping fluently and starting to turn the screw on his rivals. When leading and traveling well approaching the 9th the selection was trading as low as 1.65 in running before the riderless Overlaw who unseated at the second fence drifted right across the selection taking him off the course and missing the fence! A real bad beat! Things didn't get much better in the next race with the well backed Tuscan King. The selection traveled like the winner off the bend trading as low as 1.10 in running but his exertions of the last few weeks might have taken its tole going down by a head! Again the lay selection improved the day with Footy Facts who ran well in defeat but might have gone off to quickly as he had little chance with the winner in the closing stages! Bring on Tomorrow! A disappointing day with only the all weather tracks surviving the weather and some less than convincing rides! The day started well enough with the lay of the joint favourite Wavertree Warrior who ran well in defeat being headed on the line but added to his 39 race losing streak! The Bet of the Day ran next and i was hoping the step up in trip would be ideal after making late headway over a shorter trip on his previous run. The selection came of the bend looking full or running despite not having the smoothest of passages and when the gap up the rail opened the race was there for the taking! To say Andrew Elliotts effort was poor would be an understatement, a 3/4 length second and never nearer! The Each Way selection again was doing his best work late on but would have struggled to make things anymore difficult, twice having to be switched for a run after running up the back of horses before staying on well to finish 4th! Another excellent day! The Bet of the Day was a bigger price than i expected and again his excellent jumping and stamina showed through. Burton Port took up the lead before the last after smooth headway and stayed on well on the flat to win by 4 lengths! Bouggler was an eye catcher for me on its last run and was well backed today! Again the selection ran a big race trading odds on in running when leading 2 from home. Unfortunately the selection was headed up the run in when squeezed for room in a close 3 way finish! Another very good day with three profitable selections! The each way selection was first to run but despite traveling well up with the pace never looked like catching the winner and had to settle for second landing the place money! The lay selection ran next and after breaking slowly never got into the race only beating one home! The day finished perfectly with Vivarani who came for late support in the betting and was probably the easiest winner of the day! After being held up early in the heavy ground the selection made smooth progress through the field to take up the lead before three out and pulled well clear winning by 30 lengths eased down! Despite the Each Way selection drifting before the off Bow School ran a huge race considering nearly a years lay off and had every chance before the last trading as low as evens in running but unfortunately had to settle for second! The Bet of the Day needed a change in look, but today it was down to the skill of Paddy Flood in the saddle and a horse as game as they come! On one of the rides of the season Smoking Aces was hard ridden from 3 out and passed by two of his rivals before being switched an rallying to get his head back up on the line! The day finished perfectly with the lay of the favourite Texas Queen who took a keen hold early and when the question was asked didn't have the pace of his rivals through the final furlong and only beat one home! The persistance of Nick Schofield and the unfortunate fall of Timmy Murphys mount at the last so Sir Bumble land the place money! A very frustrating day, one for the traders! The Bet of the Day was given another chance as previously selected on its last run and today i was hoping the drop back in trip would suit. Despite trading as low as 6/4 in running and looking a genuine threat to the eventual winner the ground look to take its tole again before the final fence! One for the summer on better ground and hopefully should be well handicapped on its last two runs! The Each Way selection was desperately unlucky and siding with the value proved to be a downfall today. The formline of the winner Preuty Boy and Ballybach on a previous run looked particularity strong but the difference in price swayed me in Ballybachs favour as i expected him to be a lot shorter. The selection came for late support and despite not jumping fluently was the only one of the three involved in the finish not to have come under serious pressure approaching the last trading odds on in running. Ballybach looked to be in control when miss timing the last and ending his race missing out on what looked to be a winner but also a guaranteed place! A mixed day! The Bet of the Day was very well supported and looked a sure winner turning for home with the jockey sat motionless and trading at 1/5 in running! Unfortunately the horses inexperience got the better of him in the closing stages as he hung badly across the track and looked very green and was headed in the final furlong! Again the lay selection made the day slightly more respectable. Despite Jordans Light running well he never looked like catching the winner finishing 11 lengths back in second. A steady day! The lay of Possy Fossil was the perfect start and never looked like threatening to win the race! The Each Way selection was next to run and ran a huge race despite brushing through several fences and was only denied victory by the impressive Kalahari King despite the worries of his trainer!! The Bet of the Day was a little disappointing as he looked the winner 5 from home! The Bet of the Day was given a less than convincing ride and was never really put into the race, maybe today wasn't the day! The each way selection was one of the best backed horses of the day more than halving in price but was hugely disappointing and one of the first horses beat! An excellent return after a couple of disappointing days with over a 10pt profit made on the day! The lay selection was first to run and after being slowly away never got closer than his finishing position! The Bet of the Day was weak in the market and was let down by a couple of poor jumps, quickly fading after the 2nd last! The day finished perfectly tho with the Each Way selection Kildonnan who despite not running for almost a year was patiently ridden to make steady headway through the field before pulling clear on the flat to win by 6 lengths! A very difficult day with the weather playing havoc again losing two meetings and the lay selection summing up the luck of the last couple of days! The Each Way selection was the target of heavy late support, halving in price but left his run to late to get a never nearer 5th! The Bet of the Day ran into a place but failed to quicken when the pace lifted! The lay selection was 10 lengths back and hard ridden when he was handed the race by Court in Motion who after jumping the last slipped and unseated his rider! Again the markets moved in all the selections favours today but on the whole a disappointing day! The lay of the morning favourite Sakile who i had questions over the step up in trip started the day well with the selection weakening in the final furlong! The each way bet was one of the best backed horses of the day but didn't have an easy time of things in running being checked twice when asked for an effort and forced wide round the bend although the eventual winner who slipped the field would have taken some catching! The Bet of the Day was also hammered in the market but had no excuses after breaking smartly and setting the fractions, found little in the finish and dropped back through the field!
