After yesterday results today was a very disappointing end to 2009! The markets spoke in favour of the selections and would have made for a couple of easy trades. The Dew at Night ran well in fairness under a strong front running ride and was left clear at the last when his nearest challenger who was starting to press came down at the last! Kyoatee Kilt was very well backed and race handy until going very wide round the bend and quickly weakened before being eased down! The Bet of the Day again was well supported but was let down with a few poor jumps which he paid for in the closing stages!

An excellent day! The win and place lay of the Johnston newcomer Claddagn started the day off well as the selection weakened in the final furlong and was unable to challenge for the places! The each way selection had shown promise in his previous runs and i was hoping today might be the day on the Southwell surface! Under a well timed run Fitz Flyer finished strongly to get his nose in front at a very generous price!
The day could have ended better after Cooldine had been well supported into clear favourite but unfortunately the selection found little when asked and was struggling when pulled up before the last fence! The Basher

The day finished perfectly as Aather was smashed into clear 2/1 favourite from a very generous opening show of 5/1! I put this up as the Each Way selection on its last run on the 4th December and advised after that this was one to keep an eye on! The lay of Bothy looked to be well on course mid race with the selection trading as big as 12/1 in running but under an excellent hands a heels ride stayed on well and was pushed out to go clear in the final furlong! Sircozy finished the day well but it was far from easy, running widest of all round the bend it took a stunning turn of foot in the final furlong to get his head in front! The Basher

Not the best of days! The Lay selection was a very generous early price and in a competitivly small field struggled to mount any sort of a challenge! One of the Boys traveled and jumped well and had every chance when turning for home but under top weight struggled to quicken after the last and was pipped for second in the final yards! The each way selection was extremely well backed into joint second favourite but a puzzling ride left the horse far to much ground to make up even after a clear passage emerged up the inside rail! A good day! Inchidaly Rock started the day perfectly jumping well in the main and was pushed out to win by 9 lengths! The Lay of Mayeul was easier than the finishing position suggested and although he stayed on up the running was always held with the eventual winner! Craiglands had the chance to finish and excellent day and was backed accordingly! Unfortunately after being held up in midfield, he was slow at most of the fences and even though he was hampered at the 11th never looked like threatening! The Basher

From here on in the day was very fustrating, Salerosa getting up to win by a neck after looking to be struggling two out! Wolf Moon was the each way bet and was well supported before the off! Had he jumped the 4th, 3rd or 2nd fence from home a little better he would have caught the odds on favourite up the running, instead having to settle for 2nd beaten 3/4 of a length! The win lay of Chariot Charger looked comfortable from a long way out and a mistake 3 from home so him fall when in a held 3rd! Tidal Bay had the chance to finish an excellent day but a shocking blunder at the 7th virtually ended his chances and he did well to finish as close as he did. The Lay of Riguez dancer got the day back on track who drifted from early favourite at 5/2 out to a generous 9/2 but the eventual winner would never have been caught with the selection 21 lengths back in 2nd! A criminal lead was given to the eventual winner with the selection 40 lengths back in 3rd. Colonial Jim raced prominently but his jumping was far from fluent and quickly dropped off when the paced quickened. The Each Way selection was the most fustrating as i had narrowed it down to two with the alternative Justcallmehandsome winning well but i was drawn to the bigger price of Crushing who fluffed his chances at the start when drawn wide and struggled to get into the race! The Each Way selection was backed at an early price of 6/1 on the exchanges and was still available to large amounts at the same price before the off so the returning s.p of 3/1 is bodering on robbery! Under a typical Spencer ride, Ask Jenny was driven out to snatch victory on the line after a well timed run! The day finished perfectly with a win lay of Little Carmela who was under pressure early and finished tailed off well down the feild! The Basher
